I bought it to wear with a tuxedo when the event calls for a festive mood (evening wedding receptions, galas, formal celebrations). This shoe gives the tuxedo a whole new look and feel. Along with the AE Carlyle Oxford in patent leather, I can better match the Tuxedo to the occasion. And to my surprise, while I bought the velvet loafer to wear with a tuxedo, I wear the velvet loafer with other attire as well.

Tough to break in; not my usual size.
Great quality but very tough to break in.i really like them but it’s so difficult to put them on right out of the box. I got my usual size in loafers and other AE shoes but it just doesn’t have much give. It won’t be comfortable for long durations. I’m considering trying a different width if that would help.
