Lionel Lace-Up Sneaker (Men)

These sneakers looked great in the pictures, and I wanted a pair as soon as I saw them. Unfortunately, they did not work out for me at all, and frankly, I'm very suspicious of all the positive reviews here. First, despite every review claiming these fit true to size, that was not the case at all. I have AE Canyon high-top sneakers, AE Lawson sneakers, Higgins Mills boots, AE chukka boots and AE Porter sneakers, all in 11D. So naturally, I ordered these in 11D based on “true to size” claims, but they were extremely small. I sent them back and exchanged for 11.5D, and they were still too small, so much so that they hurt my toes the minute I put them on. I could have exchanged them again for 12D and see if they fit better, but decided not to for the second (bigger) problem with these. The relatively hard outsole combined with very wide and square heel profile makes these not fit for people that pronate or supinate even a little bit. I'm not really considered either, and my step is relatively normal by medical terms, but when I walk, my heel strikes the ground at about 4-5 o'clock first. When you do that, it forces your foot to "snap" rapidly to the neutral position with every step by the wide/square/flat heel of these sneakers. It might break in after a while, but it's an uncomfortable feeling and puts additional strain on your ankles.
