Burnout Polka Dot Fit & Flare Dress

I purchased this dress last summer to wear to a wedding and a work cocktail party. I received a lot of compliments! It's a really pretty dress. It's a true navy blue with silvery polka dots and a black patent leather belt. It's very classic and timeless. I wore it both times with black patent leather mary-janes. I am 5-9 and the dress hit just above my knee. My only warning is that the overlay is very sheer and rides up a bit in the front when I sit down, so my legs are exposed up through about mid-thigh.

I got this dress yesterday and I wish that I had read the review prior to ordering. The quality was excellent but, just like other reviews mentioned, the waist was too high. I don't think ordering it in the next size up would have solved the problem. So sad to be returning it because it really is a lovely material and it is made very well. One caution to other shoppers would be that it is a VERY dark blue (almost black) so if you are looking for blue you may not be happy with the color.

My hubby surprised me with it yesterday as an early Mother's Day gift as he wont be here for the actual day. I absolutely love it! He knows I have a thing for polka dots, pleats, and this kind of neckline! It's perfect!! I cant wait to wear it this weekend! I'm 5'1" 127lbs, 38-28-38 and a size 6 fit me nicely. I just LOVE this dress!!

I bought this dress for two upcoming casual May weddings. The fabric is very interesting and is just as it appears in the photo. It is a very dark navy. I did not find it too short waisted as some did, but it was slightly (maybe 1/2-1" ) above my waist. Not so much that I would return the dress. I am 5'3" and 165# and large busted. I bought both a size 14 and 16. I will keep the 14. Often, dresses with a waist make my chest look all "boobs", but not in this dress. It was very figure flattering. I suspect it was the pattern of the fabric that hide the truth. The length was mid knee where I like it (longer than shown on the model). I felt attractive in this dress.

I appreciated reading the reviews from others before ordering this dress, so I am happy to add my own review now that I own it. The dress is beautifully made and very classic. My husband insisted I buy it 2 seconds after he saw it on me. The outer polka-dot shell is sheer and pleated at the skirt. The lining is dark and opaque enough that I think a slip is not needed. The bodice is close fitting. I chose the smaller of the 2 sizes that I normally wear, and the fit is snug but supportive. (Perhaps supportive enough on its own up top.) The zipper is an invisible zipper, and has some resistance going up. I am tall and was worried that the hemline would be too high for someone my age. It is fine: it falls just a bit above the knee. I am so impressed with this dress, my first from this designer, Adrianna Papell, that I will definitely seek out her brand the next time I go dress shopping.
