The toe box is comfortable. The metatarsal support is appreciated. But, it doesn't make sense to invest in the design of the toe box and forget about the rest of the foot. There is no cushion at the ankle and the curvature of the heel cuts too deeply into the Achilles tendon. Finding the right socks to wear with these is difficult: thin socks work better for the toe box but will leave the ankle vulnerable, thick socks work better for the ankle (but it doesn't fully guard against the pressure placed on the tendon from the deep curve of the back wall of the shoe) but squishes the toes. This design could be fixed one of two ways: flatten the curve at the ankle just slightly or add a decent amount of ankle cushion, similar to how Fila does it. The problem with Filas are the tight toe box. If I were to choose between the two designs, one that prioritizes toe comfort or ankle comfort, I'd choose the ankle support and just size up for a more roomy fit in the toe. With these Abeos, sizing up or down would not resolve the heel issue.

So darn cute! Was so disappointed they didn’t fit me. Got size 7 first. The length was fine and plenty of room for my toes but kept walking out of them. My heel is a bit narrower than others so these don’t stay on. Sent them back for a size 6.5 but my toes were cramped and heel was still too loose . If there was some way to tighten them the 7 would have been perfect.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very comfortable, but would prefer the back of the shoe at top of heel would be more comfortable from the get go. You definitely need to break that part of the shoe in, it rubbed my heel raw the first time I wore them, with no show socks. I went ahead and inserted adhesive heel cushions to help. Otherwise a great shoe.

I purchased these for a trip with a lot of walking and I could tell they would be great and very comfortable... if they did not run big. I am a solid size 11 and unfortunately these are a solid 1/2 size too big, which makes my heel lift in the back. They would have been fine for a short amount of time but not for a lot of walking - it would have been a problem. I would have happily sized down but this brand does not make a 10.5 in its shoes. Boo. I ordered different ABEO shoes and had the same issue with all of them. So order a 1/2 size down and you will probably be in heaven.
