Unique and nostalgic
This cologne was gifted by jomalonelondon to me as a sample for my honest review. The Jo Malone Hinoki and Cedarwood cologne is a woody scent that is also almost spicy initially, but rounds out to a very clear hinoki aroma. As a Japanese person, this scent is reminiscent of Japanese hot spring onsen. At first I thought this cologne is very distinctly masculine, but as I wore it throughout the day I can see why it’s marketed as a unisex cologne. I enjoy the nostalgia felt with this distinctive and fresh cologne. I would say that it doesn’t project particularly strongly nor does it feel like it lasts long, but it may be because it’s such a good encapsulation of a natural wood scent that the nose becomes accustomed to it.

Did not come in the classic Jo Malone white box/black ribbon. Just a dusty old bottle tossed in some brown paper.

Damaged and used bottle
Paid full price for this, and when I received it, it had clearly been damaged, used with dirty fingerprints all over it and the bottle was damaged and not even full. It also had multiple Nordstrom return labels on it. When I contacted customer service, they declined to do anything stating my only option was to drive to the nearest store and return and replace it.

something new!
I received a sample of the Hinoki and Cedarwood Intense Cologne by Jo Malone London and have been trying it for a few days ! It honestly has given me a new experience for I really love fruity,warm and fresh scents such as a coconut, vanilla , mango or like an ocean breeze but a this gave me a woodsy smell which is its goal and it did what it was intended to do! I would wear it in the morning and let it be on skin throughout the day , it does wear down as time goes on for me but the scent is there and very strong in its first hours of wear . I feel very much in the forest and honestly the scent intrigued me so much I keep sniffing it because though it’s a smell I’d never personally go for , it’s smell just wants me to keep smelling it more ! I do enjoy this product and I’m very grateful to have experienced this. I would recommend for those who loves the smell of a forest , tree scent , it’s beautiful, rich and warm and I just give it a four for it’s not a scent I’d reach for personally but it’s a wonderfully made scent and if you’re into this scent , it’s a must !!

The smoky cedar is warm and grounding, while the hinoki adds this calming, almost meditative vibe. It’s such a perfect balance of earthy and serene, and it feels like it was made for those moments when I want to feel grounded but still carry a sense of quiet strength with me.
