Exactly what I needed
I received this handbag (in black) from my husband as a gift and I am loving it! The medium size is really perfect for everyday use. I am 5'4" and thought the large would be too big for me. I have had it for a few weeks and find that everything I need fits in there with extra room. I've even put a pair of pants in there without a problem. The gold hardware is gorgeous. It's bright and shiny but not over-the-top. I keep the zippers all the way down so the sides fan out. It has more of a briefcase look when the zippers are up. The latch was difficult to close at first but I tried it out at home a handful of times and it's not a problem now. If I am in a hurry (checking out at a register or something) then I simply tuck the flap inside and close the latch later. Other reviewers mentioned the hardware getting really scratched up but I haven't noticed that too much. I think it might happen if you are attempting to close without looking at it but I make a habit of looking to help avoid scratching it. There is a small strap that you can close around the straps to keep them from falling down. That little closure can be moved around. I usually have it closed. The long strap is great for hands free carrying but I took it off because I don't care for the look of the long strap hanging when not in use. There are no feet on the bottom so just something to be aware of. Inside there is one large but thin pocket. At first I really wanted more pockets but the front pulls out wide open (when the zippers are down) making it really easy to see everything inside. The leather feels so thick and sturdy. The handbag has some weight to it but not uncomfortably so. You can definitely tell this is a high quality handbag. I definitely recommend this as an everyday bag.

Heavy bag
Received this bag today and based on the reviews I have read I expected an outstanding bag. The first thing I noticed was the heavy weight of the bag. For those who are familiar with the Mulberry Bayswater bag, this bag is heavier than the Bayswater and the Bayswater can be a heavy bag. The color had a slight green tint which I didn't like. The final deciding factor is one of the zippers on the front was very difficult to move up or down and this certainly should not be the case in a bag in this price point.
There were also good things about the bag as well. The leather is very nice, the lining very well done, good craftsmanship and the metal work was well done.
Perhaps it just isn't the bag for me but the weight alone bothered me along with what I think is a faulty zipper. I returned it and will look for something else.

The clasp ruins it
I'll start by saying the bag is gorgeous.. I purchased the medium size as soon as it became available around 2 years ago. Unfortunately, out of all my handbags, I use this the least, simply because of the clasp. It's horrible. It is impossible to close unless you lay the bag down flat on a table (which is impossible to do on the go). I'm also really unhappy with how quickly the hardware gets scratched. I noticed it the first time I used it and it only gets worse with each wear. This is really frustrating because I'm always careful with my bags (I consider them an investment). I have other bags around the same price point (some even a lot less!)that have held up better over time. Overall I'm not thrilled with this purchase and probably won't buy Phillip Lim again.

Love this bag!
I've been wanting this bag since Reese Witherspoon started carrying them three years ago and then they appeared on Gossip Girl. I like that this bag is designer, but not overly logo-ed. People in the know recognize the bag, but it is understated to those who don't recognize Phillip Lim, it just a nice bag. I carry Louis Vuitton bags often and sometimes you don't want an easily recognized logo.
I love the medium size, it feels more ladylike than the full size bag. The bag is pretty heavy, even when empty. he shark embossed leather is pretty thick and substantial. I think that it will wear very well. I like the crossbody strap, but I don't like the way the tail end flops when you aren't using the strap. I think the bag looks best when you take the crossbody strap off when not using it.
I tend to pack bags really full, so I purposefully chose a smaller bag to break myself of that habit. This still holds a good amount of stuff. I can fit a full size ipad, a large planner, a medium Longchamp pencil case, two small Longchamp coin purses, 2 Louis Vuitton pochettes, a full size checkbook wallet, a sunglasses case and a slim eyeglasses case.
Overall, I LOVE this bag and now I'm itching to get it in red as well!

Almost Perfection!
Minor issues aside, this bag is the perfection promised as a functional, stylish, city girl bag in an amazing array of spot on colors. The bag is exceptionally well made and holds all, including my ipad without an issues. Some may find this bag on the heavy side, but I appreciate that it totally holds is shape no matter what you put in it. No slouchy hobo here. Structure and style. The weak point is the shoulder strap, it needs some updating to totally work as a crossbody when the bag is full. Also, some reviewers complained that this bag was similar to the Target version, it is absolutely distinguishable from the bargain version, and no one would mistake this for a bargain copy. Love it and will carry it throughout the year!

Looked great online but...
I really wanted to love this bag but closing the clasp was annoying and the clasp scratches easily. Also, I wished there were pockets inside the purse. I'm returning it.
