Longchamp
In 1948, Jean Cassegrain turned his Paris tobacco shop—where he was known to cover his pipes in an exquisite leather—into an accessories business. Named after the famed horse track on the outskirts of Paris, Longchamp is still family owned and operated, creating superbly crafted handbags and luggage lauded for a decidedly understated, always chic look.

Perfect Carry-On!
I am so tired of lugging around a carry-on suitcase, and getting hassled by flight attendants, e.g. "that it's not going to fit" (it fits every time!), so I decided to remedy the situation... Enter the Longchamp Le Pliage Expandable Carry-On! I purchased mine a couple of weeks ago and have already used it for an overnight trip and a 4-night trip, and haven't even had to expand it yet. For my 4-night trip, it held two pairs of shoes (wedges, flat sandals), 6 dresses, a light jacket, cosmetic bag, pashmina, and had room for much more (imagine the possibilities if it was expanded!). I highly recommend this carry-on! I purchased it in the Bilberry [deep purple] color to match my Longchamp large Le Pliage tote.

Longchamp travel bag, Le Pliage.
Unfortunately, I have just returned the bag to Nordstrom for two reasons; First, the handle is way too small for a piece of carry-on luggage. It does not easily fit over the shoulder, nor does not adequately accommodate hooking over the handle of a second piece of luggage which is the most common way I would organize my travel bags. Second, the bag has no functional organization, no zipper pockets interior or exterior. The one small open interior pocket is too small and is not secure for anything important to which I would want access when traveling. While the quality and workmanship, and expandable feature of the bad is good, it does not have enough functional features for a good travel bag, and given the cost, I was disappointed as I love the look of the bag.

Must-Have for Travelers
I travel overseas on a monthly basis and this expandable Le Pliage bag is always with me. I typically don't check my luggage and my Le Pliage bag accommodates my purse and my laptop and files, with room for a bottle of water and some snacks. And this in its non-expanded state. The expansion has been incredibly practical when there has been some duty free shipping: rather than carrying an extra bag I expand my Le Pliage and still only have my 2 bags with me. Like I said, a must-have for any traveler. In fact I have 2!

Poor Quality
I have had this bag for a while now ( I believe 3 years, mine is the older expandable style without the shoulder strap) and I love the convenience of it and how it can expand for travel, work, gym, etc BUT all 4 corners of the bag have ripped! In fact, everyone I know who owns a nylon Longchamp has had this same problem with their bag. The holes have gotten so large on my bag that items such as pens and bobby pins can actually fall right out. I can fit most of my gingers in the holes and they keep growing!! I will have to toss this bag soon because I don't want to be losing my lip sticks!! I am disappointed in the quality of this bag, as it was $250 and advertised as a travel bag I would expect it to be much more durable.

Too big; buying the name
I cannot understand why folks like this bag or why they think it is worth $255. I think that if this bag did not have the Longchamp name, it would not be as highly rated. It needs a large outside pocket, "feet" on the bottom to protect the bag, a 2 inch reduction in length, and some interior shaping to keep everything from flopping around inside if the bag is not fully packed. The only thing i liked was the shoulder strap. This bag was very disappointing and I returned the bag

Le Pliage Expandable Travel Bag-Globetrotter
I snagged this on a rare markdown in red and didn't use it until I took went overseas. It is a terrific bag for airline carry on and hotel room, especially on longer trips. Like Le Pliage totes, this bag folds up, saving space at home or on the go. I always take a folded Le Pliage large tote in this carry on for use upon landing and at my destination. This expandable bag is great when returning from trips with more stuff. I stored some personal items in the bag at a fancy hotel and found the staff searched it daily (I closed it just so), not unusual overseas. At least they didn't take the bag or its contents. As I do with the tote, I use colorful GWP cosmetic cases to organize items inside for easy finding, fast packing and portability. The nylon is sturdy, detachable strap and handles are ideal for long airport treks, looks great on the go. After I got this big red bag, I bought an expandable red Le Pliage tote at the Anniversary Sale. Highly recommend this versatile travel friendly bag.
