Goodbye Nike & Asics

Due to the Coronavirus, I started walking about 4 miles per day in leu of going to the gym for my usual workout. After about a week of walking, My left knee began to hurt and I realized that it was most likely due to my aged running shoes. I ordered the 1540v3 because I wanted New Balance and I wanted a sturdy looking shoe. As a former runner, I thought that this shoe would give me the cushion that I wanted and the sturdy looking construction that I needed. After the first walk I knew that I had made the right decision and that this shoe was really helping my knee issue as well as being a very sturdy and comfortable shoe to wear. I had absolutely no issues breaking in the shoe. There was never any points of friction or stress. It’s a great shoe and I am planning to buy another pair to keep in my closet as a backup for when I do need to replace it. Saying goodbye to my Nike and ASICS shoes!

NOT MADE IN USA, Made in Vietnam

While these might be nice running shoes, I purchased these believing they were made in the USA, to my surprise find out these are no longer made in USA after my purchase. Needless to say these will be going back to Nordstrom on principle alone. Btw, checking New Balance website Does show the following information that would have been helpful here, "As of April 2021, the 1540v3 will no longer be produced in the United States." Now as for the shoe itself, it fits true to size and width. The sole is a bit on the chunky side of things and there is a lack of arch support in these. The insole leaves a lot to be desired for the price.

Not made to last

I have these along with a pair of 990's that I alternate with on a daily basis mostly for walking. Compared to the 990's, these are shorter and wider, and not as cushioned as the 990's. A hole in the mesh has just started on the left shoe just above the big toe. You would think that NB would reinforce the toe area to prevent this from happening. Needless to say I will not be purchasing these again.

Not comfortable

it is difficult to find size 15 shoes for my 16 year old. Unfortunately these shoes felt stiff and like "walking on hardwoods" per my son. We took them back and got a different brand.
