Dr. Martens
An iconic shoe that started in 1901 as a tough workwear boot went on to become a symbol of self-expression and rebellious attitude when musicians and underground youths began wearing Dr. Martens in the 1960s. Today, the enduring brand continues to cut across class and culture, appealing to a wide range of individuals who have in common a sense of their own unique style.

LOVE!
I bought a pair of docs for myself and i love them! So much better than your average combat boot. They are very heavy duty and perfect for rainy days. You do have to break them in before they get comfortable.

Not the same quality they once were
I had a few pairs of these in the ‘90s, and they still look like new. But since my feet grew after I had my son, I ordered a slightly larger pair. (Don’t order 1 size down. Also, remember these are men’s sizes.) They showed up and I swear they’re PVC, not leather. They’re no longer made in the U.K. , and are clearly of much lower quality. For $150, I’m dissatisfied and will return them.

I don't get the hype
This is my second pair of Dr. Martens. The other is the Lenora (or something like that). I just don't understand the glorified reviews for any Dr. Marten shoe. For me, both pair of boots were terrible fits--worse fitting shoe I've ever worn. I wear a 9. I've bought a 9 and an 8. I don't have a wide foot, but it definitely isn't narrow. The 8 is too tight in width (the length is probably ok--barely). The 9 is way too long--by a lot--and too wide. With socks, width fine, length still too long. My other pair, the tongue moves all around--which looks ridiculous and is annoying--this pair the tongue is static. But, this pair has what I thought was a thick cardboard insert that I could not get out--it didn't. It's how it is made--with some rough, hard structure running across the top bridge of your foot. Something about the shape of the footbed made the bones in the ball of my left foot burn in pain--it wasn't rubbing, or causing blisters--just structural pain due to the shape of the footbed (that was not the case in my other pair--although they are not particularly comfortable either). As for winter wear (in VT winters), they are not warm boots (no lining) and the tread is not particularly great for snow or ice. So, it's not as though they would be superior for that purpose. IMO they are pricey, designer boots, that are about look and status with zero function or fit. If that's what you're looking for, these are the boots for you.

Recommended - but you're buying them anyway, right
Well-built, handsome chunky boot - will chafe the hepp out of your heels initially, so wear wool socks the first couple weeks. Great, buoyant feeling - the Air sole is no joke. Fit is true, very roomy toe.

Great boot!
They are quite large. I would order a size down. Great quality. They go with absolutely everything. Can’t wait to break these bad boys in!
