Love Zimmermann; May Visually add lbs.
I had high hopes for this dress. I am in total admiration of the Zimmermann fashion house and finally decided to purchase a few pieces. The Super 8 Floral Minidress here, along with 4 additional pieces via another shop. Unfortunately, I am 0 for 5. sad face.
Quality: Great. Item is well made.
Fit: This dress style is very voluminous (with or without the belt). The gorgeous, flowing fabric was a bit too overwhelming for my petite (short & small) frame. With the love handles that I have here and there, the dress actually made me appear heavier. If I were "supermodel thin" (i.e. very slender, with zero curves) I would have kept this dress, even with my short height. Worn without the [generic] belt, it would have been a great look, in my opinion.
Other: Comes with a (shorter) underslip printed with the identical floral pattern.
Recommendations: Unless worn with the intended resortwear purpose [a beach coverup where fit does not matter], this dress seems best suited for A) someone tall & [rail] thin or B) someone at least average height to tall, with a true hourglass figure [esp. very narrow waist]. Otherwise, the exaggerated ruffle hem at the bottom of the skirt could end up visually adding weight unflattering-ly (especially to the thighs) orrr may result in a "frumpy" look [versus high-end designer].
