Awesome hiker
I love my Solomon Ultra 04 hikers. I have done light to moderate hiking in the Galapagos and Ireland or just hiking around home. I can get them in my carry on luggage! - I like the height to support my ankles.
But what I like best is that I can shove my foot right in and pull my foot right out. No struggling to loosen the laces or using 2 hands to pull them off. A simple pleasure.

Great shoe but decided to go with the low tops
I love this shoe, but when it comes to packing the low tops are much lighter and take up less room. So when backpacking or traveling, I prefer the low tops.

Lace loops ripped
The shoes were great for about 3 uses before the lace loops ripped so now I can't use them effectively as they are loose all the time. This is very disappointing quality for a pair of Salomons since I have used Salomons for years. Seems like poor quality control went into all aspects of the shoe. Nothing cut through the lace loops, they simply broke when I was tightening up my laces to tie before a walk in the snow.

Great Working Shoes
I bought these shoes for work and they are great. They keep your feet warm and are good when you are outside working on the grass.
