I've tried 4 different LED Masks, and this is IT
I am a huge fan of light therapy, and have been using it for the last decade or so after my derm introduced me to it. I've been following this brand for a few years after first learning about them in Vogue. I am skeptical of most skincare tools (as should everyone) because there's so much junk out there with pseudoscience.
I started using LED Face Masks a few years ago, and after being disappointed with results I started researching more about what actually makes some more effective than others.
The key thing to focus on is the irradiance/output of the light, and its wavelength. To put it simply, if it's not the right wavelength (measured in nanometers) of red light and/or infrared that actually heals skin, then you're basically just putting a flashlight on your face.
This mask uses the most studied, clinically proven wavelengths of red and infrared light (630nm and 830nm, respectively).
Then, most importantly, this mask has the ideal output for results: 45mw/cm2. What does this mean? you're getting a powerful dose that will actually deliver the anti-aging, collagen boosting results you're looking for. Most of the masks on the market have 5-15mw/cm2, which is why SO MANY of my girlfriends are not happy with their masks (even expensive brands like Hi Dose, Omnilux, Dennis Gross etc.)
Make sure you ease your skin into using light therapy. I see a comment here about burning skin - this really can only happen if you OVER-DO it with the mask. Start slow, every other day, and stick to 10 mins a day. And make sure you’re not using harsh products like retinol, etc. at the same time as the treatment or you could have a reaction.
I use retinol but I time it to be about 6-8 hours apart from my Solawave mask. The only thing I use in tandem with the mask is the Lightboost face & neck cream, after cleansing my skin.
In summary: if you want to see results from Light Therapy for your face, this is the product to buy, from the most reputable brand I’ve found yet.

Burns/Reaction to Mask
I have used the Solawave wand faithfully for the last couple of years so wanted to try the mask. I’ve used the lightboost serum and followed all instructions and yet, the following morning, I have what looks and feels like a sunburn under my eyes/tops of my cheekbones and itchy red spots on my forehead. This has happened 3/3 times I have used the mask, so unfortunately, I have a pricey mask that I no longer feel comfortable trying to make work.

really works with consistent use
I’ve been using this mask since November 2024 and I have seen significant changes in the texture of my skin, minimizes fine lines, more even skin tone and it seems to feel a little plumper. I made the mistake of using it the full 10 minutes and doing that multiple times a day. This will likely give your skin almost a sunburned effect, but it is definitely not a sunburn. I then realize that I needed to start off with 10 minutes a day. Some people need to start off with five minutes a day and do this every day for at least a week and then bump it up to 10 minutes. Now, I usually will do two 10 minute sessions back to back. As far as holding a charge, when you first get your mask, you will want to use the battery until it is completely drained. Once the battery is drained, plug it in and charge until the light stops flashing. Failure to do this may cause issues with it holding a full charge. Always drain the battery to empty before charging. You should get at least 5-7 10 minute sessions from a full battery. If still having issues, contact Solawave during the warranty period. They have excellent customer service and are always quick to respond to emails. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it can be difficult to properly place it on your face without some discomfort. On me it’s where the flap hits the top of my nose. I have a small face and this fits well otherwise. If you have a fuller face, you may need to make some adjustments to the fit strap in back. Solawave assured me that it is safe enough to use every day and the more consistent you are with using it, the better and longer lasting results you’ll get.

smoother texture smaller pores
I started with the Sola Wave wand and upgraded to the mask. I didn’t see over night results but it felt warm and soothing, very relaxing. After 4 uses (lazy 1x a week) I started seeing the rough texture on both sides of my nose get smoother. The pores on my nose and chin were smaller and I realized I had not gotten any pimples in weeks. I’m not a regular user, but I already see a difference. The first picture is December 2022, the texture on both sides of my nose and chin has literal waves in it, and second photo is this summer 2025. I can tell a difference.

Near the eyes
Not well designed. Lights are too close to the eyes. Clearly not meant for all face shapes. Not one size fits all/most. I can see red light reflecting into my eyes. Do your research. Red lights can potentially harm your eyes after prolonged use. Not good to have near infrared or red light beaming into your eyes. Might be better to get a spot treatment hand held device for more controlled targeted application rather than a mask.
