Westerly Front Zip Long Wool Cardigan

I was so excited that this classic sweater was available in a woman’s fit. I was expecting it to be less bulky and more form fitting than the men’s that I’ve tried on before. I ordered a medium because I am always a medium in tops. The actual fit around my torso was ok. It was baggy but not as baggy as the men’s. The sleeves were what were weird. The armpits sagged down so low and the sleeves were short. It almost felt like I had tried on a size XL petite. Very strange. I love the print and will consider just ordering the men’s in a small. I am 5’9” and 140lbs and a medium was not a good fit in the women’s cut. If I size up or down I feel like it would be worse. It didn’t seem like a woman designed this.

This vintage style hefty sweater... proportioned for women... is thick, well-made, warm, and incredibly comfortable. I get comments on it wherever I go. Some recognize the “Big Lebowski” / Jeff Bridges connection, but that’s fun, too. Don’t expect to wear this iconic sweater without getting noticed! It can be worn like a cozy coat. If borderline between sizes, and you have long arms, recommend ordering the larger size so that long sleeve pullovers or shirts can fit under the sweater with out binding... I simply rolled a cuff on the sleeves to get desired length, which looks great. Thanks to Pendleton for bringing back some of their historic wool designs and remaking them so they fit females well!
