Details & care
Storm glasses, utilized by navigators as far back as the 19th century, functioned as early weather forecasters. Explorers would use these sealed glass tubes housing camphor and ethanol by observing how the internal crystalline formations responded to atmospheric fluctuations. While no longer a practical weather predictor in modern times, these conversation-starting objects, like this interactive raindrop-shaped variation, continue to captivate with their daily-changing appearances. Water droplets are available in two sizes: small (4.5"L x 3"W x 3"H) and large (10"L x 5"W x 4.5"H). Position the droplet indoors where it will experience the most drastic temperature changes and away from direct sunlight for optimal performance. Each atmospheric change alters the solubility of the crystals, leading to the display of new formations in the glass daily. Droplets crafted from glass. Large size includes a walnut and beech wooden base. Made in China.
