20-Inch Butcher Block Prep/Serving Board

No doubt that this board is heavy duty and beautiful, and when I say heavy make that a capital H. It has a really nice weight and feel to it in that respect. Reasons for 3 stars - 1) After just one use cut marks are quite visible, which was a little surprising. At $100 I expected the surface to be finished better so that cut marks didn't show so quickly. 2) It's also surprising that as beefy as this board is, the juice channels are so shallow. We had steak juice everywhere, and the whole reason for this purchase was something that was going to be efficient for this purpose, especially for holiday prime rib and turkey. 3) The biggest disappointment though is in the channels and the 3 prep holes. They are very rough, almost unfinished. It's as if attention was paid to the flat surfaces, which are smooth and nice, but most of the channels are all very rough like they were never sanded. Rough enough that I got a splinter taking it out of the box. I liked the design in general so I ended up finishing the board myself by lightly sanding the problem areas, and oiling the entire board. If you can catch this on-sale it might be worth it, but honestly, it's not $100 worthy.
