Velvet Tie Back Vest

Before deciding to purchase the black velvet vest, I considered other Eileen Fisher vests. It wasn't an easy decision because each of the vests had its own personality. I chose the velvet vest because it was washable, it could be casual or formal, it didn't look like something that would be worn to an office, and it reminded me of my younger years. When the package arrived, I tried it on over an Eileen Fisher scarlet silk shirt and the vest and shirt combo was beautiful (the scarlet silk shirt was size XL). I can wear this velvet vest with jeans, or linen pants, or silk pants, and over linen or silk shirts, and it will always be perfect. This vest makes me so happy and I'm very glad I bought it. I chose size Large, which is the Eileen Fisher size that best matches my measurements (for size reference: 5'6", 38DD, hips about 43"). If an Eileen Fisher garment is sleeveless, size Large is perfect for me. For long-sleeved shirts, I usually choose size XL because I prefer a looser fit. I have other Eileen Fisher velvet clothes - many shirts, pants, skirt, scarf - the velvet has a beautiful hand and drape. It isn't heavy. The vest details: small buttons and a tie in the back -- so nice!

I'd been looking at this vest all season, so I was thrilled to see it greatly reduced at the end of the season. I typically wear Petite Small in Eileen Fisher tops, but the closest to my size available was the XS. I took a chance, and it fits beautifully. I am thrilled. This piece can really make an outfit and provides a little extra elegance effortlessly. I can tell I'll be wearing it a lot!
