V-10 Low Top Sneaker (Men)

Unsure which style I would like, I bought the V-10 (all white w. black V) and V-12 (white upper w. black V...tan “gum” sole) to test. Here was my take: I bought both shoes in a size 40, which is my size. They both fit true-to-size for me. The V-10 had the thin, hard tongue that everyone complains about. The V-12 has a fabric-backed tongue, which is still hard and on the thin side - and about an inch too long - but it is a little less rigid than the V-10. Both styles fit similarly, so I ended up choosing based on my favorite aesthetic. I picked the V-12 because I liked the gum sole, which not only looks cool, but it won’t show dirt as badly as the white-sole styles. As others have said, the shoes were not comfortable out of the box. I had three issues: Issue 1: I have an average-width foot, and the toe box was a bit narrow at first. Fix: They became comfortable once I broke them in. Issue 2: The footbed. I have a very high arch, and these shoes (both styles) have zero padding. Fix: I added an insole. Problem solved. Issue 3: The tongue is too long and was rubbing against my ankle. Fix: I tried the “pull the tongue to the side” trick, but within 10 steps, the tongues kept working themselves back to the top. Fix: I ended up just folding my tongues under and tucking the last inch or so under the laces. This works perfectly for me....and I actually like the look better without the long tongue sticking out. Break-in time for me was two full days of wear...walking 5-6 miles each day. On day three, these were super comfy. These shoes - both styles - are so stinking cute, and with the break-in and minor fixes, they are now comfortable enough for me that I can walk miles and miles without complaint. Definitely worth the trouble.

I'm not the one who write reviews but I feel like I just have to for this particular shoes. Before purchasing the black/white Veja, I seriously went on a thorough research because I really love the style and I prefer shoes that will go with many outfits! BUT if it was uncomfortable (per other reviews) then it wouldn't be worth paying much for it. After months of research (right size, narrow vs wide, comfort of the tongue etc), I finally decided to pull the trigger. I'm usually a true size 38 (Eu), which is size 7 in the US but after reading and listening to reviews from different sites (youtube, zappos, amazon , pinterest) that this run big, i decided to go with 37, which is only half size smaller. OMG its perfect! Lots of room for thick or thin socks. Another main concern was the tongue. Yes it's true its long but in MY OPINION, it wasn't uncomfortable like the other review says. Of course, every brand new shoes needs breaking in and so thats what I did. Wore the shoes around the house, placed the tongue on the side (left and right) and tried bending it multiple time so not so stiff! I must say, I felt very stylish wearing them for the first time out in town! So yea, I love them!!
