Fragrance story: Vanille Antique is the first titular Byredo fragrance centered around perfumery's rarest raw ingredient. Here, the smoky scent of vanilla bean becomes charged with history and character; transforming into something unexpected, less syrupy and more nuanced. The expected sweetness of vanilla is cut through by textures of earthiness and darkness, a warming mix of cashmere wood, ciste and musk form an intoxicating ambrosia.

Fall perfection
First off, this isn’t for everyone. I can’t imagine a 20 something wearing this but as a 40 something, I love it. It’s mature and sexy. It dries down to a warm woodsy, vanilla smell that people will comment on when they hug you. The initial scent can seem strong to some but the dry down is exquisite. I’ve had countless compliments since I purchased this.

I love Byredo. They are one of my favorite houses along with La Labo and MFK. I read many reviews for Vanille Antique and watched a few YouTube videos and this perfume sounded perfect for me. My other favorite vanilla based perfumes are Indult Tihota, Le Labo Vanille 44, Diptyque Eau Duelle, Guerlain Spirituese Double Vanille and M Micallef Note Vanille. So I really love a good vanilla! This did NOT work for me! The scent was piercing, high pitched and sharp. I did one spritz and my son commented from another room “What is that smell? Are you cleaning?” It smelled like ammonia according to him. I do not like ambroxen and am sensitive to that scent. This literally smelled like pure ambroxen. No sweetness. No musk or smokiness. This was in a similar vein as Le Labo Tonka which I have and can’t wear. Bummed this didn’t work for me and thankful for Nordstroms return policy!

Nice Perf
Great fragrance. Lasts till you take a shower. Too pricey for it's size. The actual size was hidden. You didn't have to hide the size. Let people decide if they want it at the price for that size. I decided not to return because it smells great despite your little marketing deception.

Simply Stunning
I love this fragrance! Every Vanilla fragrance that I ever loved has been changed or discontinued so I hope this sticks around. I love the grittiness of this and can not understand the negative reviews. Maybe the price? I got this as a gift but it was not random, as I really wanted this and have every intention of replacing it when I use it up. I can't wait until the weather gets colder, but even on these extremely warmer days, it still works. True Love!
