very disappointing
We previously had the Nuna but switched to the Uppababy stroller for the next baby, so we decided to try the mesa. It was ok at first with the infant insert in, but they grow out of it so fast and it just went downhill from there.
It’s incredibly heavy, the seat is too deep which is uncomfortable sitting position for baby, as they’re almost folded in half. The head support piece is hard to adjust, and even when you move it up our average size baby, it still hits his shoulders.
Overall it’s clunky, heavy, uncomfortable and I would not recommend to any new parents. The Uppababy stroller is great though. We are switching back to Nuna for our car seat.

so small
Very small bulky car seat my baby at 3 months was giantic and this car seat was by far the most uncomfortable thing for him after he surpassed 13LB most uncomfortable purchase, switched back to the nuna hands down a better car seat all around

DO NOT BUY
I bought this to go with our Uppababy Stroller avoiding the use of an adapter. My daughter cried (blood curdling screaming) every time we put her in this car seat. She was clearly in pain. I borrowed my sister’s Nuna and she was a total different baby. Do not buy this car seat. It is narrow, stiff, bulky and heavy.

Do not buy!
Horribly designed car seat. The infant insert is so thick. It ends at the neck so baby’s head bends back in an uncomfortable looking position. Then without the insert it’s a C shaped seat. Baby’s chin is to their chest. So unsafe! This should not be on the market. Please don’t buy.

So Disappointing - Too Small
This carseat was by far our biggest regret purchase for our baby. Baby just never seemed to fit in it and was so uncomfortable every time we went in the car. It scrunched the baby in an awkward position and was such a tight squeeze in general. We had to replace before the baby was even 5 mo. Bummer because it is supposed to be safe. Got a Nuna, so far much better.

safety hazard
I had the mesa for my first child so figured I’d buy the mesa max for the second one. I was familiar with uppababy products and trusted the brand. I’ve bought the cooler, the bassinet, the ganoosh, the pack and play, the changing attachment and the canopy for the pack and play… you get the picture.
My daughter has been crying in the car seat non stop. We don’t drive very far or very long. Mostly just errands around town. It finally dawned on me that it’s the car seat she hates. She was literally happy before going in the seat; happy as soon as she got out and was in a bassinet; but the minute she’s in the car seat she is screaming until she’s red in the face. She’s also always hot in there. Every time I pick her up her back is sweating.
After looking online I see a lot of other folks have the same issue and some have even had serious medical emergencies caused by the car seat and the way it positions babies. I emailed uppa baby about it and they denied it’s being recalled, just that they have heard the feedback and have an additional foam pad they’re mailing out to everyone to remedy the issue.
What a half baked response. If you have to alter your product after it’s been sold, that’s a recall!
