Universa Medium-Support High-Waisted 5-Inch Pocket Biker Shorts

I have mixed feelings about these. Got them to replace an older pair of Nike 5” shorts that I have loved to the point of destruction. I am 5’-4”, 130lbs and I got a small. I’ve done an easy 18 miler and a 10 mile tempo in them now along with a few shorter runs. The good: pockets are amazing for gels. I can carry so many! The not so good: The side pockets are hard to access while running, which makes them less ideal for racing. Fumbling for gels is not what I want mid marathon. I find that they ride up enough to be a distraction, and i wish they had the rubber grippers on the legs. They’re long on me, so even with a bit of hiking up, they’re fine, i just wish they stayed put like the old version. I do wonder if maybe they’re a bit big on me, so I’m going to order another color in an XS and see if that fixes the problem.

Purchased these for a gift. Nordy sent me a used item with a sticker return tag on the rear waistband. Item had been worn, and there was a residue in the crotch. was it DNA ? was it soap? who knows. DISGUSTING. Returned. Placed another order for new product. Fingers crossed it will actually be a new product. Get it together, Nordstrom.

My absolute FAVORITE shorts for all workouts (running, crossfit, hyrox, etc). I have them in 4 colors & will be ordering more!!

I bought a pair of these shorts a year or two ago and immediately fell in love. They were perfectly compressive, did not move an inch, flat seams, and flattering! The material of these shorts felt like a second skin and I wish I had a pair for every day of the week. Worn for every distance from 5k to marathon and the shorts never let me down. So I happily bought another, only to have a completely different pair of shorts arrive :( The new version of the Universa has no sticky grip lining the inside of the thigh, uncomfortable thick seams, are not compressive, and I was so disappointed. It seems Nike was motivated to remove the front seam and add pockets, okay cool, but why remove everything that made the og short great? (Front seam never bothered me at all since the originals fit like a glove and didn’t migrate during movement!!)

Was in search of running shorts with pockets that would stay put when running. They have three pockets and my iPhone Pro Max fits in all three including the back pocket. There will be plenty of room for my gels and snacks. Wore them on a three mile run and considering they are 5 inches, they did not ride up…last thing you want as a runner are distractions. Love the fit of these shorts, for size reference I’m 5’3”, 140 lbs with athletic legs, leg openings are forgiving and sit comfortably.

I have a pair of universa shorts that I bought at the Nike store, and now I have a pair that I bought at the NSale. They are supposed to not show your sweat…they definitely still do, so if that’s why you are getting them, know that. The pair I got at the NSale have better seam placement in the crotch (prevents camal toe). I haven’t run in them yet, and I’m a little worried for the other crotch seems that are doubled up that they may cause chaffing. The ones I got at the Nike store have laser cut edges which is super nice on long runs, and it surprised me that the NSale version does not have laser cut edges. The pockets are adequate to hold your phone, and some gels/a key. I’m 5’4”, 145 lbs, and got size medium to run 3-8 mile runs outdoors.

Love the fitting, they are comfortable and the material super light. I already own 3 pairs this tells how much I like them

The new version of these shorts is incredibly disappointing. I have three pair of the previous version that I run in constantly and they are perfect. The new version is thinner fabric, a thin and unflattering waist elastic, and they ride up horribly. Please change the design back to the previous version

Why did the Nike Universa women’s biker shorts change? I have three pairs from 2023-2024 that I wear all the time and with the new ones I ordered in 2025 the material feels less compressive, the thigh band doesn’t stay as well. They feel lower quality overall.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE! These shorts did not roll or ride up during my run and I love that there’s no middle crotch seam. Super comfortable and cute!

I wish they could stay unrolled

I love the soft material. I love the thickness of the fabric and the high waist. There isn’t a front seam but there is a thicker seam on the inside thigh that is a tougher scratchy fabric that did cause me to chafe on a 20 min walk and I’ve never had chafing before with any pair of shorts. I’d recommend these for Pilates workouts but not running or walking.
