Medium Auto Close Umbrella

Really like the look of the umbrella (like the red), and the reflective edge is not only functional, it works with the Tumi look. It opens up easily when you push the button on the handle, but my only reservation with the product is closing it. I'm not a dude, nor do I have unreasonably strong (or weak) fingers. I have to work pretty hard, sometimes push the button with two fingers to get the thing to snap shut. I even broke a nail trying to close it once *gasp* ;). I'm hoping it will loosen up? No telling.

My husband loves Tumi products. Unfortunately this umbrella could not withstand Chicago rain and wind. It broke within a couple of months.

I've had mine for little over 2.5 years. I'm giving this 4 stars because the mechanism still works fine, and this is still my favorite umbrella. However there are a few complaints: 1) The rubber handle on the umbrella wore off unevenly so now the shiny plastic underneath the rubber coating shows in ugly patches. 2) The umbrella does seems to be getting a bit "tired". The coating is wearing out a little and the fabric is absorbing more water than it did when it was new. It still does not leak though so for now it's ok. The automatic function is pretty handy and awesome. It's one of those luxuries that you never knew you needed until you have it.

I ordered this as a gift for my boyfriend. I wanted something small enough to fit in his briefcase/computer bag, but that opened up large enough to be effective. I ordered the "small" Tumi umbrella first, but I thought it was too small and flimsy feeling. This one has the wind-resistant flaps and feels more substantial. Very happy with my purchase!

I haven't had the chance to test with wind but wished this umbrella was a bit larger in diameter that's why it's only getting 4 stars. The reflective-edge is really a plus when you think about it raining in the night.

The umbrella was put to the test today with rain and very high winds. Tested it against an $8 umbrella. The tumi flipped inside out not just once but several times! The $8 umbrella not once did it flip! I love all my tumi bags but the umbrella is a huge disappointment.
