Palm-A-Dora Shimmer Bay Sleeveless Sheath Dress

I so wanted to keep this dress. The material has a wonderful feel to it and is a good weight. I could tell that it would be a marvelous dress to travel with and would probably not wrinkle. The detail of the workmanship is something that one doesn't see much of any more. Unfortunately, I am almost 5'9"and 73 years old. I talked to the lady in alterations to see how much of the hem could be dropped, since it looked like about 3" and I was right. I wasn't sure if that would be enough, so I decided to take the dress home and compare it to some of my shorter dresses. The lady in alterations told me how to take some paper and pin the paper to the hemline. This would allow me see where new hemline would be. I did as I was instructed and decided that I would need for the hem to be dropped 4" instead of 3" or turn back the clock 10 years, neither which was possible. Therefore, I am having to return the dress for some other lucky person to purchase it.
