Eye Color Quad Eyeshadow Palette

What can I say, I had heard so much about this quad, I had to give it a try. Unfortunately, something was very wrong with the one I received. I hope they didn't change the formula, but the shadows in my quad were quite the opposite of the adjectives people attributed to them in reviews, i.e. buttery smooth, creamy. As you can see in my pictures, they were very dry, crumbly, powdery to an extreme, the cream and darkest brown being the worst matte shadows I've ever seen... Even drugstore makeup can be better sometimes. Obviously, I returned it immediately and I'm very wary about reordering... $80 for an eyeshadow quad is an insane amount of money and I'm not willing to take another shot... At least not anytime soon.

I'm sure many have heard the Tom Ford eyeshadow hype, but it has exceeded the buzz and my expectations. Like another reviewer, I've tried all the high (and low) end eyeshadows, and none even come close to these. I bought Golden Mink for my hazel eyes and it is stunning, plus all the colors are wearable. Don't be afraid of the sparkle because it is dimensional, not the flat, dense, disco sparkle of most shadows. I'm in my late 50's and I think that this shimmer makes my eyes look moist instead of the dry look of matte shadows. The compact itself is a chocolate/burgundyish color with a large mirror perfect for travel. One of the brushes is even useable. I can't believe that someone who designs clothes has now blown away the competition in the highly competitive and product saturated market of eyeshadow. I've ordered two more of the palettes. Save your money on the cheaper shadows and just buy these!

I ordered the orchid haze after reading reviews for Tom Fords eye shadows. I thought I would play it safe and get the orchid haze which looked more matte on line. When I received it the colors looked really pretty, but looked kind of glittery. Oh my god, when I applied these colors my eyes looked so shiny it looked ridiculous. I have all his makeup brushes, which I love, but he needs to tone down the eye shadows so that more women would like these quads. Several reviews said that they were too glittery, but I had to see for myself.,

I have few Tom Ford palettes (Cognac Sable which is raved by makeup bloggers), Silver Topaz (silver and plums), Seductive Rose (purples and pinks), and Titanium Skoke (beautiful grays and blacks). My favorite ones are titanium smoke and She Wolf (limited fall collection 2013). The shadows are very pigmented, so you don't really need a primer. The glitters are sophisticated, not the cheap looking glitters for teenagers. I do get a lot of compliments when I wear Tom Ford eyeshadows. So, despite the price, they are well worth it.

the tom ford web draws me in every time. the SPARKLE! its two glitters. perhaps the best deep rose brown like dried flowers that i have seen in a while. but ahhh, the glitters. they go everywhere. they are sheer based leaving little color meant as translucent overlayers. so im left with two shades and two glitters and a whole face of big chunk sparkle. i reordered it after returning it, missed it soo much, assuming it was me. upon second look it went back again. ahhh, glitters. on the huge upside cle de peau released the spring quad fairy dust and that plum is a ringer minus the issues. tom, i love you but im not 20 anymore and i dont club. think i will start clubbing just to wear your wares. i gave you 3 because someone will loooove this quad. just not me. it is a 5 for someone. applies like a dream minus the glitters they are very temperamental compared to chanel and armani. i rank them 3rd in line and for price should be #1. i would recommend but all quads have some glitter shade even orchid haze has a certain sparkle fallout on the 1 beige shade. NOT COOL AT $80. cle de peau glitters are tiny, plentiful, visible, and stay put better.....and yes.....i used primer....of every brand and sort because i loved this dearly. yet still returned it. i own for reference 5 of the cdp quads(new formula) fall drop alone, and bought #6 spring quad weeks ago. still glitter, better formula for me. honestly just dont like his powders, eyes, and face. many better products on market if you look, hyped IMO, yet somehow all his perfumes are 5 star. wild.
