Black is Perfect
I recently purchased the beige East-West tote and didn’t think it was great- I reviewed that one as well.
On the other hand, this bag is perfect for my needs. It stands upright and is stiff, unlike the other one. The material is similar to the weekender’s fabric. The two inside drink pockets are great for a water bottle and a personal beverage/umbrella. I cannot say if the beige version of this bag will perform the same since the material is different and more flexible.
I’m using this bag for school/campus. It fits my ipad and 13” laptop as well as notebooks and personal items. Overall, I recommend this one over the other. I hope this helps!

Durable fabric
I ended up keeping the larger horizontal version of this bag, but this style seems great too. It has different types of interior pockets and compartments for staying organized, and a laptop sleeve. The material seems like it will hold up well to both wear + weather.
