Perfect
This coat was the one. Hood and fur both removable. My husband would never wear the fur, he claims that he doesn't like hoods, so the fact it was removable was a plus, still hoping he'll use it to keep him warmer. The look of the jacket is masculine, functional and not too busy. It is a true black. Very nice looking coat. Runs slightly large. My husband is somewhere between a large and an extra large...if this is your situation, order the smaller of the two.

1 flaw-
A beautiful jacket, truly. However, the cord locks for the hood (1 each side) are situated on the inside of the hood right on your face. It's quite uncomfortable. If it weren't for the fact I had a large TNF credit and it's for around town not for extended outdoor use, that would be a deal breaker. I been hiking and mountaineering for 55 years. The position of these locks are about as bad a positioning as it gets.

My 1 star is for the North Face Shipping!
The product is great but with a horrible delivery! Get it together North Face, almost all of my orders have been taking almost three weeks to be delivered! By the time the package is delivered, the packaging has been always messed up!

Downgrade in quality
I had the 2017 era McMurdo which was amazing and the downfill was perfect. It actually kept you warm. This new version feels like paper mache and would not recommend it to anyone. Look elsewhere. Northface quality has gone downhill to cut corners masked by a "recycling" initiative
