Better than Shu Uemura for different eye shapes
I know there's a lot of debate about this one and the Shu Uemura lash curler...
I used the Shu Uemura one for 10 years and finally decided to branch out to the Shiseido. I like it SO much better. I have very round, downturned eyes, and for some reason the Shiseido curler catches all my lashes, whereas the Shu Uemura required me to try multiple times to curl an entire eye, which resulted in funky crimped lashes. Definitely thrilled with it.

DIFFERENT CURLER SIZE
I am very disappointed with this product. It is NOT the same. The rubber component is smaller and therefore DOES not curl correctly.

Not good anymore
Anyone who has used a Shiseido eyelash curler would know: It lasts very long. Mine lasted for more than 5 years before I decided to replace them last week (yes, it didn't break, just I thought it might be time to get a new pair). And that's when I purchased a new one which looked exactly like the one showing on the website. Then, I realized they had changed the style. My previous one was in silver color and the arch of the eye had a deeper angle than the current one. The current one had a very shallow eyelid arch, which made me so easily clip on my eyelid. Also, for some reason, this current curler just didn't curl my lashes until I clipped them several times, each time had to do it really hard and long. My old one was easy, only one hard press, my lashes were all good to go.
It's a shame that I had to return the new one and wasn't able to get an old version of it to replace my thrown-away curler. Hope they would bring back the old design soon.

Perfect for Asian eyes!
This may sound offensive but if you have the almond-shaped and/or no double eyelid, this is the best curler. I have spent so much money on eyelash curlers. One after another. This one happens to work the best for me. Got one for my neice too!

Best lash curler ever!
I have owned this lash curler for over 19 years and use it everyday and it's still going strong! I replace the pads about every six months or so to keep a nice soft curl. I have tried other curlers and cheaper replacement pads and nothing compares to the original. I have poker straight average length lashes and within about four seconds literally double their length when curled. So happy to have this workhorse and that they continue to sell the replacement pads at Nordstrom!

Disappointed
I had been using the same Shu Uemura eyelash curler for over 10 years. I thought it was time to replace it, so I did some research and came across this Shiseido curler. I had really high hopes, but was unfortunately disappointed. My main gripe with this product is that it extends/opens up way too much - it feels unnatural. I'm not sure if it's because I'm used to my Shu Uemura one, but this eyelash curler felt so uncomfortable and hard to control. I either clipped off some lashes or barely got them to curl. Returning.
