This lightweight, minimalist snow helmet is the go-to choice for backcountry touring and ski mountaineering and is the brand's first triple-certified design that meets global alpine skiing and international mountaineering standards. Thirty-three vents on the shell create a ventilated environment and keep your eyewear fog-free, while Zonal KOROYD® coverage provides lightweight, impact protection. The Flexible Fit System, featuring BOA®, offers a micro-adjustable fit and collapses into the helmet so you can stuff it into your pack. External bungee loops securely attach this helmet to your pack when not in use, and the integrated headlamp strap routing keeps your light in place. This helmet also has a beanie- and ball cap-compatible design so you can layer up to match the weather conditions. This version features Multidirectional Impact Protection System, or MIPS, which uses slip-plane technology inside the helmet to reduce rotational forces that can occur in certain impact situations.

Looks good but lacks some functional thought
I purchased this helmet because Smith has fit well in the past and has been functional and comfortable. This helmet is still comfortable and not too bulky or heavy. It still fits in my daily 35L pack which I like. I also like the triple cert for ski mountaineering type objectives. I don’t like that there is no goggle attachment in the back of the helmet. Something to hold them in place and on the helmet would be very beneficial. If I put my hood up and over the helmet while the goggles are on they fall off a lot and I had to mostly stop riding with the hood up to make sure the goggles stay on. Additionally, i thought there would be better integration with the shape of the front of the helmet and a smith goggles. I use the 4D mag and there’s a bit of gaper gap. So, all in all this is just ok. Not a standout in my mind.

Love how the helmet feels. The adjustable boa helps for a firm fit. Very light can barely tell it’s there

Almost perfect
This product compares well against other backcountry helmets on paper (weight, features, etc). The quality is better than others I’ve tried. I use this for backcountry touring and really enjoy how the BOA tucks away. I’m usually a small women’s in Smith and the Small in this helmet fits tight enough when tightening the BOA. Minus one star because the Matte Poppy color is more of a salmon pink and not a red. This was disappointing. And, removable ear flaps would be nice for those cold mid-winter days.

Disappointing Helmet
Headlamp clamps are janke. You definitely need to prefix your headlamp before getting into the BC. Otherwise, you'll freeze trying to attach it. Also, no strap to fix the goggles to the helmet. This is the biggest disappointment. Nothing worse than your goggles moving around when you ski. There's also a slight gaper gap with IO Mag XLs. The main reason I get Smith is so it fits perfectly with my goggles. It also feels big. Like I have to really crank the boa to fit my head. Ordered the same size as my Smith MTB helmet and my Smith Vantage resort helmet. Perhaps it's large for when you wear a beanie underneath? Was stoked to get it, but now I'm bummed. Will keep it due to the potentially improved safety over my Petzl. We'll see if I actually use it.

Odd Fit
The helmet is quite large overall, does not feel trim. My biggest issue is that the tightening system/cables comes down below my ears so when I cinch down the helmet my ears get pinched and with a hat on, there is no adjustment. The dial feels like it sits awkwardly low on the back of my neck as well. The chin strap is also odd, and when tightened the buckle sits center under my chin and the pad does nothing. I really wanted to like this helmet, but it doesn’t seem like it was tested for fit on small -average women.
