If you're in between sizes, size down
For reference, I'm about 5'2, waist 27. 5 and hips about 40 in. I have a bit of a pouch as well. I was debating about getting a 36 or a 38, as the 36 is for 26-27, and the 38 is 28-29. I read a lot of brand reviews and decided to get a 36. Thankfully they do run a little large. They fit in the waist and there's a little extra room if I get bloated. Obviously I'll have to get them hemmed, but that's to be expected.
