Solid parka for Alaska
I’ve had this jacket for three years, and have some long term thoughts. I live in southcentral Alaska, and I work a job that requires a lot of outdoor time in the winter, often standing still. It is extremely windy in the Matsu, so my winter gear has to stand up to cold ambient conditions, made worse by well-below zero wind chills. So first: layered with silk turtle neck, and a wool sweater, this jacket absolutely performs. When I have this zipped up and the hood cinched down, my back to the wind, I am comfortable. I stood in twenty five below wind chills last week for forty five minutes, and I felt fine. This was paired with Patagonia ski pants. All was well in my world. Second: I cannot count the number of times I have been asked about this jacket. I have it in a dark green color, and I get more compliments. That’s always nice. A side note: I visit Fairbanks each winter and have also taken this jacket along for forty below conditions- no wind. I did slightly heavier layers underneath, and only noticed that I could really use some more fill in the arm area. Again, the hood is top tier. My one complaint would be the stiffnes around the upper part of the collar- it is absolutely uncomfortable if you have to move around. It is like having a piece of cardboard up against your mouth. A small price to pay for the other pros.

Too thin and not enough insulation
Don't be fooled by the number of 700+ fill power this jacket has way less insulation than you think. Not sure how some people in their reviews called it bulky. I love every details of this jacket honestly - GoreTex canvas shell, polar fleece lined hood and pockets, lots of pockets etc... But I am sorry this jacket just isn't warm enough for you to go anywhere below -15. It's thin and not as puff as you think a 700+ down jacket should be. Very disappointed!

Excellent Parka
Love this parka, lite weight yet very warm. Wore in wet, heavy snow and the snow just beaded off. Wind proof is great for blustery days.

Incredibly warm
Incredibly warm and gortex outter helps keep in the heat. I’m using it to stay warm during low intensity activities like walking, but would be useful for hiking etc as well

Survived Greenland Winter
I purchased this in black for an extended trip to Greenland. For sizing reference I purchased an XL to accommodate 44in hips but fit a L everywhere else (with sweater underneath). It did well in the winter and I appreciated that it wasn’t bulky like most parkas. There are plenty of lined pockets which was convenient. The lined hood felt restricting when it wasn’t in use but I appreciated its close fitting structure once I used it. I had a liner jacket ready, thinking it might be necessary but nope! This parka does it all and stay dry and warm no matter the activity. Mine was used primarily in snow while hiking/walking and extended time outdoors in rough arctic winters. No better test than that! If fashion matters to you, it was as streamlined as an arctic parka can get. There is a toggle to make the waist cinch if that’s your thing. All in all a great parka I’d highly recommend.
