Millie V-Neck Stretch Velvet Fit & Flare Dress

I thought this would be a cute simple holiday dress, once I took off the ribbon as I think the ribbon makes it look old fashion. I was excited that It said stretch velvet and the fit and flare silhouette is usually very flattering on me. HOWEVER when it arrived this dress had one fatal flaw. It was stretchy everywhere except for the waist!! which contained no stretch even without the ribbon. I could get it on, and zip it fine but it was just not comfortable when I sat down, even standing it was a but snug on the waist but fit well everywhere else. I am a pretty proportionate size 18W - 20W and ordered a 2x. I considered sizing up, but I felt it would be too big other places if I did that. Sad otherwise could have been a great dress minus that major design flaw.

The good: *Comfortable *Really well made with no flaws or mismatched seams *Good quality velvet with high thread count, but it does not feel soft like good quality velvet did "in the old days" * Hides the tummy and hips a little, but not a lot. (It is slimming, but not as slimming as other dresses that I have tried.) The bad: * It does not look particularly contemporary fashionable. However, if you don't care about the latest fashion and you want a good quality, comfortable dress, then you might like it. I guess what I am trying to say is it looks a little dowdy, old fashioned. I bought this dress to wear to a Halloween party with a witch hat and other creepy things. I like that I can wear it all night and be comfortable. Overall, I would say it is a great deal for the price.
