What it is: Squalane Cleanser is designed to effectively cleanse the skin by removing makeup, dirt, and impurities, while also supporting the skin’s moisture barrier through hydration.

What it does: Formulated with plant-derived squalane, a well-known moisturizing agent, this cleanser leaves skin feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated. The addition of lipophilic esters helps dissolve makeup without stripping the skin. This gentle cleanser formulation is non-comedogenic, soap-free, ideal for daily use across all skin types and is suitable for combining with other skincare products.
How to use: Dispense the cleanser into your hands then rub your hands together to warm the product until it melts into an oil. Massage well onto a dry face and rinse with warm water.

Clean Face
If you want a clean face and not left over residue start here. I also use another great line to clean my face because l think you need to change things up and alternate some products to get the best results for your skin. I am new to this line and so far l am highly impressed.

Bad reaction
I bought this cleanser to use as the first step in a double cleanse routine. The first couple of times I used it everything was fine, but then the next time my face was left feeling irritated, hot and sore. I developed red patches, lumps, spots and patches of dry skin. Took me a couple of days to realise that it was the cleanser causing it. Very upset because I had good skin before this, now it’s so sore and my barrier is definitely damaged.

Doesn’t remove make up. Hard to get out of bottle.
I love The Ordinary products but this cleanser simply does not work. It does not remove light make up. I end up with streaks of mascara all over my face and loads of product to remove with toner afterwards. I wear light make up, nothing heavy. The tube is also difficult to get product out of. It feels empty very quickly and you have to remove the cap to squeeze it out and then eventually cut the bottle to use what’s still in there. I will continue to buy my other products but definitely not this cleanser.

When removing makeup, we recommend massaging the cleanser into dry skin, then rinsing with warm water. You may find better results by using a damp face cloth to remove the product from your skin.

Amazing Cleanser
This cleanser is my ride or die. I have been using it for so many years at this point that I have lost count and it is a must repurchase for me. It does an excellent job at making your face feel properly cleansed and remove any makeup left in the evening. It is also great if you want a gentle morning cleanser.

Great cleanser
I've been using this as my nightly cleanser for a few years now and I can't be without it. It's great at giving that deep clean feeling (gets rid of makeup very easily) without leaving my skin feeling tight or dry. It just takes a little bit of getting used to massaging the balm into the oily texture properly, but well worth it.

Less is more
