Mission MIPS Snow Helmet

Plusses: The Mission helmet is comfortable and even in the coldest of conditions is sufficiently warm. Its interior suspension is easy to adjust & functional, as is the sliding ventilation adjustment. Major Fail: The clip for the goggle strap is totally inadequate in both design and construction: it's an inflexible plastic piece comprising two thin 5 X 2. 5mm struts extending from the helmet attachment point to the lower end of the clip. On my helmet both struts cracked at the attachment point then failed completely within only 4 months of use without encountering any impact. My previous Smith helmet had a clip constructed with flexible vinyl material & a snap at the clip end, and lasted the life of the helmet. The rigid black plastic of this Mission helmet's clip is too thin and not durable. Fortunately it appears to be easily replaceable (attached with a small screw), so I'll be requesting a replacement clip (or two) from Smith.

This helmet is so comfortable it feels like an extension of my body. The fit is customizable to your preferences, it has the prefect amount of ventilation when you need to cool down but also keeps your head warm and snuggled. I have worn it with a balaclava and had no issues with the fit. It's like a dream! Perfectly integrates with the aleck speakers and smith 4d mag goggles which are a must have as well!

The helmet is great but the sizing for me is off. I used the measurements on the site and tried one on at my local ski shop that fit perfectly. But when I received my new helmet, the day before I left, I just threw it in my bag and when I arrived at my destination to ride, the fit was too snug and was uncomfortable all day. Figured I could not return it because it was my fault.
