Standard,Style &Looks
After buying returning quite a few expensive coffee makers, I went with Smeg drip coffee maker. I have lots of smeg appliances, and they all deliver the best performance. I only like drip coffee. And I was v hesitant because I wanted the coffee maker to look nice and proportionate with my kitchen. This is the best. It brews the coffee as good as coffee shops. It stays warm for 1.5 hours which is enough for me. I would rather brew fresh than use all day kind. Love it.

pricey for little functionality
I don't know where to begin - it was expensive, so I really imagined that all of the general user needs were considered. Nope. 1) Coffee does not stay hot 2) It is hard to pour water into 3) the instruction booklet talks about a settings menu which does not exist 4) the little knob on the side is for changing time and temperature settings..which you can get to after to find out how to exactly get to the setting menu. After 5 days of making excuses to keep it, I couldn't. I have got a 25 $ coffee machine that is simpler and more functional than this. Very disappointed

Beautiful but just not functional
I’d read some reviews about not being able to pour all the water out of the carafe and into the reservoir, but I wanted to believe I could somehow make it work. Alas, it just isn’t possible! Between the shape of the carafe and the reservoir’s small size and too-close proximity to the lid, it is impossible to fully invert the carafe to fully empty. Unless you’re willing to use a measuring cup or something else to fill — which my husband and I aren’t — it’s not worth the purchase. What a shame such a beautiful device has such a simple design flaw.

Great design, but nothing special
You're definitely paying for the brand and the aesthetic of this coffee maker. Its functionality leaves a lot to be desired. The brew strength can't really be customized, and pouring water into the reservoir is tricky because of the shape of the carafe. You can't fully empty it without picking up the whole appliance and tipping it back. Were it not so beautiful (I got the red one), I'd return it.

SMEG Stainless Steel Coffee Maker
Makes a solid cup of coffee. Enjoy the stronger brew option. The timer could be a little easier to set, but it does the job. As a professional barista my biggest gripe is the poor way in which neither a right or left handed person can get all 10 cups of water poured in to the tank is due to the strange opening and the angle I which the tank lid opens.

Cute but....
Love the llook of this. but it is all plastic and I thought it was metal, or at least part. I don't feel it brews any better than our older maker but it is more decrotive. One drawback is that the top does not open enough to pour all the water into it from the glass decanter. Maybe something smaller will be able to clear the lid.

I love my smeg. I hit the jackpot
I don’t understand all the bad reviews; it looks great with my kitchen and my coffee is hot and tastes great. That’s enough for me. Yes, pouring the water into the reserve is a little awkward (the reason for 4 stars) but it’s actually easier than my old cruisinart; yes, it doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles; but I don’t need all that; yes, it’s expensive, but you’re basically paying for a cool looking machine. If you’re a practical buyer, buy something else; however, if you have simple expectations and want a high end look, I highly recommend it. My husband loves it, too
