Handles are not adjustable.
Per Nordstrom's description, the Neeson Woven Leather Tote features.... "adjustable handles so you can carry by hand or over the shoulder", but sadly, the handles are NOT adjustable, unless maybe your physical body structure is a size zero or less. I loved this bag, but I had to return because I wanted the adjustable handle feature.
