Nordstrom Size Conversion is Off

I normally take an 18 in women's jeans, or a 1X. Nordstrom's size listing said a 14W was the same. These feel more like a 14 women's, because I couldn't get them up over my hips. Also, I ordered this pair and the Lea color, and they are nearly identical in color - but they look very different online.
