Short Sleeve Bouclé Knit Sheath Dress

There is a reason why this dress is highly rated and i knew the moment I saw it I would keep it. It runs a little big but if you are a full bust type of gal I would order your normal size. I ordered a 10 and 12 and ended up keeping the 12 bc it was not as tight around the bust and I can have my tailor take it in.

Dress is a great classic piece. Fit is true to size - only shaved off one star because there is a stitching gap on one seam where the dress needs about three stitches to close the gap - this is not what I would expect from St. John at this price point but I know I can easily have my cleaners close it up and that will be less hassle than going in to the store or sending back to exchange or repair etc. The dress length and sleeve length are great for me too - perfect for work and enough of my arm is covered to be work appropriate even in more conservative workplace (financial service exec) setting.

This dress was perfect for my last trial. Classic, timeless, and elegant. Using the measuring guide, I was between a 0 and 2 and I went with the 2 because I wanted to have room should I expand slightly during the remainder of my career. This is an investment piece for me - A long contemplated purchase and one that had sentimental value attached to it as one of my former mentors (a female attorney who later became a judge) always wore her "St. John" and I thought she was so together and hip. Now I have my own St. John and it has every bit of value to me. Gorgeous fit, some give in the knit material so it was not binding in my upper body (I am a bodybuilder) and the length was perfect for me with kitten heels (I am 5 foot 5). If you're on the fence, order it. You won't regret it.

I bought this dress when it was full price and loved it so much, I bought a second one when it recently went on sale. The first one is size 8 and the second is size 6. The 8 is only slightly bigger than the 6, and to my eye the extra room is primarily in the waist and hip area. I love the boucle fabric, the cut of the dress and the length. I think it might be the perfect dress.
