The Runwell Chrono Leather Strap Watch, 47mm

I recently bought another Shinola watch at Nordstrom in Tysons Corner for my husbands birthday. Upon arriving at the store I noticed that this Runwell Chrono model which was not available online or in stores was in fact there. The Customer service manager explained they had just received it in to show for pre orders and after I explained that my husband needed this because he is from Detroit and his birthday is 1 day away... he sold me this watch. WE LOVE IT! The quality is impeccable and the detail of the monochramatic stitching really makes it look fabulous. Thank you Nordstroms for making a customers day!

I've had my eye on this brand for a few months, and was a little anxious about the 47" being almost "too big" of a big face watch... no need. Perfection all around. Wooden box is a game-changer in a gift experience, and the watch is definitely a statement piece. Shinola definitely belongs (at least one) in your watch collection.

I purchased this watch right when it first came out several years ago and thought that this was a steal. I am a watch collector and normally I wouldn't purchase a quartz (especially) at this price level. However, at the time Shinola was still a start up and I figured whether they grew or close-shop I would have a first production run watch. The movement on the watch is made in-house (which is a big deal in the watch-making world) and the leather strap is sourced from Horween tannery in Chicago. Even the box is numbered. I check my original tag and I paid less than $600 for the Runwell 47 Chrono, which means they have increased the price.

This is my first Shinola watch. I was particularly drawn to the light grey/blue dial. This watch looks even better in person. The band color is dark brown, chocolate. The leather band is very comfortable. It really is a fine piece of watch making. The craftsmanship is outstanding. At first I thought I would be put off by the 47mm case size, but it works quite well. The contrast between the hands and dial is good, easy to read from a distance, and for a chronograph, not too crowded. The dial takes on more a lavender color in incandescent light, outside it's more grey/blue. Visibility in low light is good - the Arabic numerals are polished not painted, so they reflect light easily. At night it's a little bit more tricky to read. The accuracy of the movement is excellent but I've only had the watch for two days. I set it to the atomic clock and it's so close that I don't see any practical difference. The packaging is outstanding as well. I normally don't really care for packaging when I'm buying a watch but Shinola is setting a new standard in clean delivery of their wonderful products. You even get a metallic business card with the name of the person that assembled the watch. I went to Nordstrom to see the watch in person. I was easily distracted by a few other Shinola's that in person are equally amazing, but I walked out with this magnificent piece. It's really nice to see watches assembled in the US, let alone this nice.

Had the matte black and returned it in favor of this. It is a handsome watch and I am happy to buy something assembled in the USA. However, I did get the old "oh! I thought it was a Fossil." I was kind of insulted as this watch is a bit too pricey to be mistaken for a Fossil. Never had my Omega mistaken for a Fossil. All said, I am happy with Shinola and the concept behind it. So far the watch is great. I am curious to see its durability over time. I would be interested in a mechanical watch if they ever make one.
