Awesome hiking - fantastic experience.
My Peru trip comes to an end.
Almost 3 weeks I wore these shoes, hiked the Inka Trail and explored Machu Picchu. Rainbow mountain in the snow, steep slopes to visit tombs... The Xodus Ultra 4 never failed me. I never slipped, no tired feet, not one blister, no knee pain. I could not be any happier with these shoes

A couple improvements needed
I’m a saucony guy. I use the endorphins for road, and I’ve used peregrines, Xodus 1 and 2 and now 4. This is the best iteration so far. My main complaint is the heel cup. While the shape isn’t perfect for my heel, my heel adapted but, the height of the heel cup/fabric is much too high and rubs my Achilles (have to use foot glide). If Saucony would modify the shape to match the Hoka Mafate Speed 4, this shoe would be much improved. Another improvement would be to either increase the arch or build the insole foam into the midsole so that we can use aftermarket insoles with more arch support and not lose the bounce from the insole foam.

Great shoe
I bought about a month ago not really knowing what to expect because it was my first pair of trail runners. I have been pleasantly surprised, they have an amazing amount of traction. I am someone who pronates heavily so I was a bit worried about have a less stable shoe as I run in the guide 18s for everyday use. But I have not had any issues with these so far and I have done both running and hiking in them.

Had hokas first. Tried them for a week. Absolutely hated them. Returned them. Got the XODUS ULTRA 4. Your going to have to fight me to get them back. Highly recommend .

Good but not Great!
The original Xodus and Xodus 2 were bullet proof. Used both in vertical gain endurance events. Never tried the Xodus 3 because of reviews I saw. The Xodus 4 is more in line with the original and 2 but there are noted differences. There’s no rock plate and the upper and durability is lower (frays). After I had no luck finding the original or 2 in my size online, I recently repurchase the Xodus 4 to use in another vertical gain event I’ll be participating in this June. Wish the rain shield option was available.
