Had hokas first. Tried them for a week. Absolutely hated them. Returned them. Got the XODUS ULTRA 4. Your going to have to fight me to get them back. Highly recommend .

Good but not Great!
The original Xodus and Xodus 2 were bullet proof. Used both in vertical gain endurance events. Never tried the Xodus 3 because of reviews I saw. The Xodus 4 is more in line with the original and 2 but there are noted differences. There’s no rock plate and the upper and durability is lower (frays). After I had no luck finding the original or 2 in my size online, I recently repurchase the Xodus 4 to use in another vertical gain event I’ll be participating in this June. Wish the rain shield option was available.

Grip from Desert to Mountain Snow
I purchased for the Vibram soles. I was hoping for better grip and better longevity than the brands I normally wear.
I was concerned by the slightly less plush ride compared to the Hoka and Brooks I typically wear. Well the ride is working for me and the grip is great in rocky desert where I normally travel. To my surprise I ran into a little snow at the 9,000-10,000 ft level (wasn’t going any higher) on Mt. Whitney last week. Gingerly walked across the snow obstacles and did very little slipping and sliding.
I’m sold on the grip and ride. Only time will tell on the longevity. Glad I gave them a try!

Long race in mud
Had a blast with these shoes in some hilly ski resort terrain. Mud, rain, and cold. My feet were wet, but that’s to be expected during a long race in the rain. My downhill traction was amazing, it suprised me every step. It worked for me, and my foot. My right side gets a bit sore after 15ish miles, but… to be expected lol. Shoes held up great, and sprayed them clean after the race. Easy to dry.

Tried & True - Fantastic Shoes
Just rain my first Half Marathon Trail Race in the North East, where the trails are notoriously packed with rocks and roots. It had just finished raining before the race started, so I was expecting at least a few slips here & there… shockingly these kept my upright the entire run. Over slick & algae covered creek rocks, wet roots and leaves, and slippery wooden bridges, I was totally fine. The plate in these saved the bottoms of my feet from being pulverized with all the rocks; a concern I had, as I have fractured the bottom of my foot in a race in the past. 10/10 would recommend these!! I rarely leave reviews, but literally just finished my race a little while ago & felt compelled to write this.
