Island Monk Strap Shoe

The moment I slipped these shoes on and started to walk, it was night and day compared to my other shoes (including other Santoni in my collection). The bologna construction of the shoe, combined with the buttery soft leather, makes each step feel like you’re wearing an extension of your foot. These may all sound like buzz words, but I have yet to be so impressed by another pair of ready to wear shoes. I have yet to try their higher end bench made GYW shoes but compared to any blake/bologna constructed shoes I’ve worn, these monks are a dream. The brass hardware and finishing are small aesthetic details that speak to the expert craftsmanship and care put into a pair Santoni shoes. Beyond worth the investment, I promise you. Timeless, sartorial Italian shoes in every way. Sizing: If you haven’t tried Santoni before, size down at least one whole size from your standard dress shoes (I wear 11.5 in Allen Edmonds Park Avenues and the 10.5 fits perfectly in Santoni). The sizing on the sole of the shoe will reflect the UK sizing (Mine say 9.5) hopefully that helps any potential confusion and prevents time wasted returning).

Wow! I have no words to describe this monk strap shoe by Santoni. The leather is super soft and light on my feet. Of course the most important thing is I got this on steep discounted price! Thanks Nordstrom

Extremely comfortable and stylish

I've heard about the reputation of this "iconic" brand before, so I was really excited about this first purchase of these shoes. Well they didn't live up too the hype. This shoes are made in Italy with blake stitching. I guess that label doesn't carry the prestige it once did. I found the overall look to be chintzy. The feel of the leather was subpar. Maybe their higher-end line is more proficient . The comfort of the shoe was not an issue. The sizing runs big. So size down 1 size. The online pix look nice, but once in person, these shoes look old-fashioned. Something an older man would wear. I've purchased monk-straps before & have been quite happy with the overall quality. Not here! An instant return!
