Roughout Cowhide Suede Trucker Jacket

Own a full grain cowhide from Schott that took a good while to break in. Love it so much I got my wife this one and noticed the other review, sorry but real cowhide is going to have hefty but it will also last much longer than your typical lamb skin jacket yoy usually find in a department store. This may not be the trendiest jacket this winter but this one will last, best of all Schott will do repairs for a modest cost where most companies your SOL if anything happens. Maybe that’s why they’ve been around for over 100 years.

This is such a nice jacket! I had been eyeing it for a while and finally decided to grab it since I wanted a good suede jacket to replace my old one. It’s a bit on the heavier side but that’s expected with quality cowhide leather, and I don’t mind it at all. For reference, I’m 4’11 and went with an XS after reading that it runs a little large. I’m glad I did because it does, mainly in the arms, but not in a bad way since it still leaves room for layering with thicker tops. I haven’t worn it out yet but I’m really happy with the quality and overall very satisfied with my purchase. :)!

First off, this jacket uses a nappy roughout leather, not a split hide suede. So it is much more durable and heavier than suede. It's somewhere in between a fashion and utility jacket. The color of the leather is a rich, orange-y shade. The blue chambray liner is soft and lightweight. My long-sleeved shirt got caught when trying to put it on, so I'd wear a t-shirt underneath next time. I wanted a slightly more oversized fit, so I went a size larger than I normally go. Torso fit well, but the sleeves were too long. Go true to size, because trying to get a leather jacket tailored is a pain. (Schott will only shorten sleeves of their Made in NJ, USA jackets.) The fit is pretty boxy, though the cropped length suggests a slightly feminine cut. I had trouble zipping up and down the jacket - the metal zipper is not smooth and would get stuck. 1 star off for low quality hardware. If you can get past that or don't plan to zip the jacket, it's a solid, good-looking roughout jacket that will last a lifetime.
