What it is: A luxury candle that takes you on an olfactory journey celebrating the Harlem Renaissance.

Fragrance story: The Langston candle celebrates elements of the jazz poet's creative vision with fragrance accords reflecting some of the strong symbols in his life. The worn vintage leather of his favorite armchair, aromatic tobacco laced with a hint of clove and vanilla from the pipes of the neighborhood men and the smell of amber incense that recalls his many visits to churches in Mexico. A dramatic heart of heady jasmine and a warm background of resinous sandalwood round out this deeply personal blend that perfectly evokes Langston Hughes, a true Renaissance man.

One of my favorites of all time!
This candle is absolutely incredible. Every candle I’ve tried from HCC ends up being a favorite of mine but Langston is one I can’t do without. It’s such a universally appealing smell - leather, vanilla, amber, sandalwood - it’s a classic. It’s truly up there in my top 5 candles of all time. The burn on HCC candles are always clean too.

Deceptively Decadent
I ordered this and the one in the gold jar together. The gold smelled AMAZING in the box. The Langston was horrifying to me; very strong and almost petroleum smelling. I scheduled a return but then saw the wonderful reviews online and decided to light it. In about 10 minutes the warmest fragrance of sweet tobacco and caramel wafted from the room. I was stunned. The throw is excellent and the fragrance, once lit, is beautiful. It does smoke and cause more soot than it should but the jar is handsome as is the fragrance.

Beautiful!
Langston's deep, rich fragrance fills up a room without being overpowering. The deep blue candle vessel is elegant enough to repurpose. It's as luxurious as some of the more expensive brands it competes with, so I consider this to be a great value for a candle of this quality. I love this candle!

inconsistent wicks
I buy these from Nordstrom and from the company directly. My advice is to purchase here, from Nordstrom because the quality is soooooo inconsistent sometimes the wick won’t burn and Harlem won’t replace. I keep getting suckered in as the scents are lovely but I think I’ve been burned (no pun intended) for the last time and will go back to Jo Malone because the burn is so much better and 100% consistent. Such a bummer! As these could be great
