La Mer creates luxury, high-performance skin care and makeup by harnessing the power of the sea. In the 1960s, aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber set out to help heal the appearance of scars he suffered in a lab accident. Pioneering the use of sea kelp and bio-fermentation in skin care, he created Miracle Broth™—the elixir that powers the legendary Crème de la Mer.
I love this cream!! I'm 46 and my skin is very dry. You always read about how people who use this don't look anywhere close to their age. I've attached a current(as in just taken current) photo of my face. Keep in mind, I have taken care of my skin since I was 18 and I use La Mer SPF30 sunscreen every day rain, snow or shine. That being said, I'm proud of my youth and thankful I've always chosen to use high-end skincare and will never stop. And no, you don't have to be rich to use this cream!! I'm not and I buy the 3.4oz, use it morning and night and it lasts me 6 months easy. You probably spend more than that in coffee lol. I don't and never have spent money on dermatologists or salon treatments. Just good skincare and sunscreen, that's all you'll ever need. Grow old with grace and don't let society make you feel that you must look a certain way to feel beautiful. Attached is a photo of myself at my current age of 46 and proud of it! Thanks Le Mer for being a part of it!

Cheap ingredients....
So I decided to try out this cream because of all of the hype around the product. I also needed a good, heavy moisturizer for winter. The only thing this cream is good for is moisturizing, it has no anti-aging benefits whatsoever. After looking up the ingredients and doing some research, I've found that its way inexpensive to make, has no antioxidants or any skin loving ingredients. Lots of petroleum and mineral oil. To me it smells EXACTLY like Nivea cream. I've also heard it being compared to Nivea which is interesting....it's not worth it for the price of this cream in my opinion. I think because you hear about all of the celebrities using it you think it must be good. I would look for products with hyaluronic acid, peptides, ceramides, antioxidants. Thousands of other high quality face creams out there!

Why did I ever stop using???
I used this cream for many years. For some reason (probably the price) I stopped using in my mid-sixties.
I love coconut oil, and have been using that. Still complexion gradually began to develop patchy spots, and nothing was seeming to help.
Then, I remembered how healthy my skin looked while using La Mer. Last week I began using it again. I'm now in my early 70's. I'm very realistic about what a cream can do. My skin is looking more alive, and the patchy patches have mostly gone away.
I'm happy and glowing (at least in my eyes).
Make sure you apply this right, or it will seem heavy.

Not impressed
I have some bad acne scarring, so I figured I'd try it....since the guy who created this was a burn victim & there's so much hype about this *broth* ...Anyways, package arrived on March 24th/25th, been trying it for 3 weeks now...I personally don't think there's any improvement. My BFF says she thinks I have better "tone"...not sure what that means really. I still need a boat load of concealer/foundation...though it does slide on smoother after applying the cream...which, in all honesty, foundation/makeup glides on smoother, after ANY cream...so I don't think it's *all that*! I'm going to give it another couple weeks.
Decide for yourself...Here are the pix (with red lipstick on is the "before" pic, with no lipstick is the "after 3 weeks" pic
The reason I have said I would recommend to a friend, although I give it only 2 stars, is because I think it has a nice luxurious feel to it & because of Nordstrom's superior customer service & return policy. I WOULD NOT recommend buying it from any other place, where you'd get *stuck* with a pricey product that didn't deliver results.

Fresh Faced at Fourty
I purchased La Mer Moisturizing Cream after asking a close friend of mine how she manages to look like she's in her 40's as opposed to being in her mid-60's. She said that she has been using La Mer ever since she worked at Nordstrom years ago. So I had to try it out of course! Just turning 40 myself, I began to see a lot of my tiny lines get a little bit thicker and linger after I laughed or scowled so I had to do something. This stuff is awesome. Putting it on lightly in the morning and night, I noticed a difference in a couple of weeks. My lines haven't completely disappeared but they've become less and aren't as noticeable due to the product leveling out my ph as well. My face also looks and feels firmer. I also have sensitive skin and this does not make me break out at all. It has a pleasant scent, is lightweight and feels wonderfully refreshing. Also, a little goes a long way with this cream which is definitely a plus since it is on the high end...but so worth it! I would also recommend using the cream with the Eye Balm Intense and the Regenerating Serum. They all compliment one another very well and subtract years from your face and neck. Love this product!

The Prodigal Returns
I am a 51 year old male.
A while back, I decided to try another skincare line after using La Mer for many years. Perhaps, it was a weak moment or a split second lapse into insanity. In any event, when using this other line, I was noticing my skin was getting a highly negative reaction from it. Redness, bumps and irritation over my entire face and creping under my eyes pretty much did me in.
So, I regained my sanity and went back to classic La Mer. Within a day or two, all the damage done was completely reversed, and my skin glowed in healthy fashion once more. Never, ever will I sway from La Mer again! Just for the healing components alone, this is pure perfection -- as are the other forms of La Mer moisturizers, serums and face/body treatments.
As an interesting sidenote, there are sales associates out there who may try to tell you that La Mer is not as "cutting edge" in the high-tec world of skincare as are some of the more trendier brands. To this, I must say that they are completely wrong. True, La Mer is over 40, but being in the business this length of time with proven results must and does account for something special.
In my opinion, La Mer is the Chanel of skincare. It's a true classic with a loving, worldwide following, and it certainly does not need to enhance its recipe in the slightest. And being that this recipe was born from a horrific burn and scaring accident suffered by aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber (who developed and used this formula on himself with astonishing results), La Mer has transformed the realm of skincare. La Mer (aka Of the Sea) not only dramatically slows the aging process, it also has powerful healing capabilities unlike anything else on the market.
You see, it's not so much the actual singular ingredient deck within La Mer which makes this happen. It is their brilliant scientific process itself which blends and creates the ultimate formulation which is unparalleled and puts all these glossy, trendy brands to shame. Never mess with a classic. Never.
We hear time and time again now of the beneficial and healing capabilites found within oceanic and sea waters. La Mer understood and harnessed these powers way before it became popular. Why mess with others when you can go directly to the source? La Mer has got it down right. No need to go anywhere else.
And speaking of classic, you must visit the new La Mer station at the Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue in Chicago! It is so elegant and beautiful (including a gorgeous aquarium as a backdrop!) that you will feel like you are in a sumptuous, exquisite oasis while experiencing the best of the best in skincare and beyond!
The wonderful associates at the La Mer counter will gladly assist you to create the ideal La Mer skincare (and makeup) regime tailored specifically to your needs, so you needn't worry about trying to find what will work best for you on your own.
La Mer reigns forever!!!
