What it is: A bold, matte lip pencil that saturates lips in rich pigment with 12-hour staying power.

What it does: The fully loaded matte lip formula is charged with 12-hour staying power. Its transformative cream-to-matte texture applies effortlessly and seals in a bold, matte finish. A beautiful variety of ten transfer-proof shades stand up to it all. The lip pencil is formulated with a Power Pigment Complex—a dynamic blend of pure pigments and color-locking ingredients that saturate lips with dense color that glides effortlessly and wears comfortably all day.

How to use: Using the tip of the pencil, line lips first before filling in with color to create a bold, matte look. Try lining lips with one shade, then filling in color with a lighter shade for a fuller look with added dimension. For best results, sharpen pencil before each use with NARS’ Pencil Sharpener (sold separately).

Doesn’t budge!
I have this in so many shades, cannot get enough! Dolce Vita is my perfect colour. Once you’ve applied this, it doesn’t move so a 10/10 for lasting power. Looks just as gorgeous with a clear gloss over the top. Easy to apply and doesn’t leave my lips feeling dry or crusty. Couldn’t ask for more in a lip product!

Lovely color, lousy packaging
It’s 2024. Why does this pencil require a sharpener? Why can’t it be turned up? I don’t have the sharpener. Didn’t realize I had to buy that to get the crayon. Throwing it in the trash and not buying another

Lovely color, lousy packaging

Drying, did not last long
I have received this product in a couple of different shades (Cruella and Dolce Vita, if I recall correctly) over the years in goody bags. In short, I found their durability on the lips be severely lacking, the application often to be patchy (unless you had scrubbed your lip skin to oblivion before the first application of the day - and certainly, if you tried to reapply after eating something) and their main function to be milking my lips of any hydration that they had managed to retain overnight, drying them out very effectively. Even if NARS were cruelty-free, (and I did enjoy their Sheer Lipstick formula all those years ago, so the brand could do some things well), I wouldn't pay a cent for this product.

Good liner
This lip liner is smooth, precise, and easy to apply without tugging. The formula is creamy enough to glide on but firm enough to stay sharp, making it great for defining and shaping the lips. It has strong color payoff and helps lipstick last longer without feathering. A reliable everyday liner with great staying power.
