Plush Houndstooth Jacket

I really wanted to like this jacket and it seems popular but it did not work out for me. The sizing runs a little large and because the fabric is so heavy it makes the coat seem even longer at the armpit and hem. The natural waist disappears in this jacket so if you like a more tailored look, as I do, this may not work out. A belt with belt loops would have been nice. The fabric, while soft, is heavy and does not seem to hold heat. Since there is no lining this is not made for cold weather at all and better suited for spring/fall and indoor wear. I would have kept it to wear around the house but the sizing is not flattering on me at all. I am thin, 5’4”, 34C. The length is too long and the waist too wide. What I did love was the houndstooth pattern and color.

A blue cardigan is a foundational piece in my wardrobe. I have barefoot dreams and llbean cardigans. I ordered this APNY sweater jacket on impulse because I liked the idea of the houndstooth pattern. Turns out this was a great impulse - the pattern is subtle and attractive. Moreover the sweater jacket is so much more than an attractive pattern. The fabric is heavier weight with wonderfully soft hand. The cardigan looks more fitted and tailored - a jacket look with a cardigan feel. Definitely one of my finds of the year.
