Petal Pop Scented Doll & Accessories with Surprises

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mattel Barbie Petal Pop is a fun, interactive toy with a satisfying “pop” reveal that kids can enjoy again and again thanks to its reusable design. The only downside is the multiple petal pieces, which can be easy to lose. Overall, it’s a creative and engaging addition to Barbie play. It would also make a cute gift for a little ballerina after a dance recital since it appears like a bouquet of flowers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately this is the first toy we have received that has just not been enjoyed. From first doing the opening process, my daughter was upset that adding water with the watering can as the directions stated led to water being dumped on her. Then, when the Barbie popped up, the skirts didn't fall and she didn't enjoy moving them herself to see the Barbie. She lost interest in less than a minute at the point it should have been the most exciting. The Barbie itself has also not been a hit. She has mentioned the lack of underwear, that the shoes are the same color as the legs, her clothes can't be fully changed, and that her hair can't be played with. As a parent, I noted the clear dots of color in the paint work that made it look patchy and thin, the lack of details, lack of hem on her skirt, how lightweight and breakable it feels, and, most of all, the sharp points of plastic on her joints that needed to be sanded smooth. Overall, this is not a product I would recommend to others. I feel like a much better product can be found for a similar price point.
