Petal Pop Scented Doll & Accessories with Surprises

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you’re looking for a fun toy that brings joy again and again, then look no further than a Barbie Petal Pop. This doll pops out of her flower vase, like a spring flower. To get your Barbie to pop, all you have to do is remove the 3 large plastic petals from the vase, fill the watering can with water, and pour into the hole on the side of the vase. And, pop! Your Barbie blooms. Other surprise toys are typically a one-time experience, but what’s great about this Petal Pop is that it can “pop” again and again -- something my daughter and I happily discovered. To “pop” the doll again, put her arms up (like a ballerina pose), lift the petal skirt, stick her legs into the vase, pour in the water into the hole, and then “pop”! It’s important to note that you can’t use just any Barbie; you have to use the specific Petal Pop Barbie. And, also note that the doll won’t “pop” if the petals are placed back in the vase. This toy is creative and fun. My daughter and I have loads of fun making this doll “pop”. And, we had loads of laughter every time the doll popped out. This set is also beautifully spring-themed, with Barbie’s petal skirt, petal-shaped shirt, a bunny figurine, and the vase holding the flowers. It’s all so spring-like and gives you the sunny feelings of spring coming after a long winter. This toy would be great in an Easter basket.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately this is the first toy we have received that has just not been enjoyed. From first doing the opening process, my daughter was upset that adding water with the watering can as the directions stated led to water being dumped on her. Then, when the Barbie popped up, the skirts didn't fall and she didn't enjoy moving them herself to see the Barbie. She lost interest in less than a minute at the point it should have been the most exciting. The Barbie itself has also not been a hit. She has mentioned the lack of underwear, that the shoes are the same color as the legs, her clothes can't be fully changed, and that her hair can't be played with. As a parent, I noted the clear dots of color in the paint work that made it look patchy and thin, the lack of details, lack of hem on her skirt, how lightweight and breakable it feels, and, most of all, the sharp points of plastic on her joints that needed to be sanded smooth. Overall, this is not a product I would recommend to others. I feel like a much better product can be found for a similar price point.
