A step backwards
This Retro-X vest is not like the predecessor Patagonia Regulator R4. That vest is flexible and soft on the inside. This one is not very soft and is fairly rigid since the windproof layer is fairly stiff. When comparing the two, the older design kept me warmer and it is shorter. I am of average height, and I found this vest covered my phone holster mounted to my belt. Thus, I had to unzip it to access my phone. I returned this Retro-X vest.

Great Gift!
I purchased the stone blue for my twenty- nine year old son. Loved the color and fit of the vest. The blue is a great color and not quite as blue as dipicted in the picture. Medium is the fit for a slim guy and provides a great look layered overa long sleeve t-shirt.

Great lifestyle fleece
This is a really great non-technical fleece. It's super comfortable, warm, looks good, and blocks wind well. While I wouldn't use it for mountaineering or backpacking, it's perfect for around-town or car camping.
