Practice makes perfect
This is the officially approved wax for barbour jackets. I haven’t found any alternative suggested elsewhere. There is no quality concern about this product and my review will focus more on the practical use of this wax.
For 20 dollars with free shipping, you can hardly find a better deal from a trustworthy source. You can get it for the same price on orvis but they often charge shipping. There may be a few other websites that sell for a few dollars cheaper but Nordstrom stands behind their product. You can turn your jacket in Orvis for 60 dollars including shipping, for a professional job. Turn around time is about 8-10 weeks.
Unlike the numerous videos I watched online, the wax took longer to melt even in almost boiling water. Most videos, including the official Barbour, suggested it was easy to melt the wax. But it took at least 20 mins. And I had to reheat my water to almost boiling multiple times. The completely melted wax will be a thick liquid. I would suggest be patient to allow all the wax to melt completely.
Applying the wax is even more tricky. Again the online videos simplify this. There is a happy medium in terms of thickness and evenness that would require some practice. Or your jacket will appear a bit “patchy” at the end of it, because you’re applied too much here and there and not enough elsewhere.
Don’t cut your sponge too small. And try not to apply too much at one spot because once the wax melts, it’s easy to apply too much at the get go. I thought I had applied to a few spots too much and it took a long time to work the wax evenly.
I used a hair dryer at the end. It improved the appearance. I left it overnight but my area is not warm/hot. Over the next few days I continued to work on some of the areas that required spreading out the wax a bit more.
As many people suggested, the re waxing is not “hard”. But it requires a lot of patience and is tedious. Took me over an hour total. I think practice will make it better.

They charge you $20 for a small can of Vaseline. Be aware, this product contains 0 wax, the ingredient is petroleum jelly.

Renewed my Coat
I ordered this dressing to re-waz my Barbour coat. Now it looks new again and Nordstrom has the best price for it, by far.

Cheapest price for this item is at Nordstrom
I've had my classic, Barbour jacket for over 2 years and it was time for a new wax job. I looked into sending the jacket to Barbour to wax but the cost of the service was a bit too high for my liking. I decided to wax the jacket myself. Nordstrom is the cheapest I was able to find the Barbour wax. It arrived in a timely manner and was exactly what I needed. Hot water and a kitchen sponge did the trick for me and now my jacket is looking good as new.

Worth the effort
I found the instructions from the Barbour website. It took about an hour but my jacket looks good as new! So much cheaper than sending it away.
