Honu Flip Flop (Women)

The thick, folded leather piece that goes between the toes is so stiff that it hurts! Usually when buyers complain about discomfort between the toes I think, “Maybe THEM, but flip flops are my thing - they won’t hurt me.” Yikes - these are downright painful. I like the look, so I’ll wear them around the house a bit to see if they start to calm down. If not, back they go. Too bad.

I LOVE the look of these Olukai. From the Honu etched on the footbed, to the dainty metal Makau and the color contrast of the sole to the upper to the copper straps. And given my past experience with Olukai, I felt comfortable just buying them and taking it with me on vacation. What I bummer then by day 2 on vacation I was literally shifting my feet around and limping while wearing these b/c the strap that goes between your toes were so stiff & uncomfortable, it literally rubbed the skin raw and I had to use bandaids. I would also size up at least 1/2 a size which I typically do, but these felt even a smidge smaller than normal. Not a dealbreaker like the toe strap. I recommend if you get a pair, wear it around the house a few days just in case before you commit to keeping these.
